Though the more practical uses of juniper have been known to people for several millennia, it features only sporadically in ancient mythology. Juniper was a symbol of the Canaanites’ fertility goddess Ashera or Astarte in Syria.

Medical Benefits:
In Western traditional medicine, juniper berry preparations have been used to relieve flatulence and indigestion and to stimulate the appetite.
Known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, they are often used to aide in digestion problems and loss of appetite.
Juniper makes a fine purifying and sanctifying incense allied with various planets. Juniper berries contain the planetary metal for Jupiter (tin), and their color and warming action suits that planet as well. The spicy warmth of Juniper berries clarifies thought, and protects your mind from negativity. In aromatherapy, juniper berry is used against anxiety, to improve memory and mental clarity, and for sedation. This herb is also commonly used as a diuretic.
Origin and History:
Juniper berries have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. This is notable as not all of the varieties found actually grow in Egypt.
The berries imported into Egypt may have come from Greece; the Greeks record using juniper berries as a medicine long before mentioning their use in food. The Greeks used the berries in many of their Olympics events because of their belief that the berries increased physical stamina in athletes.
How to Use:
The spicy, aromatic, dark berries of the juniper tree can be used fresh or dried, crushed or whole, to flavour casseroles, marinades and stuffings and complement pork, rabbit, venison, beef and duck. They can also be used in sweet dishes such as fruitcake.
Juniper berries also provide the main flavouring for gin.
Juniper Berry Tea – Make a tasty diuretic tea by steeping juniper berries over boiling water for 10 minutes, add honey or another natural sweetener, and enjoy!

three times a week to ensure fast delivery. Shipping days are Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. We try our best to stay competitive and accurate on
cost and do not profit from any shipping fees paid by our customers. All
packages are fully inspect with care to be sure all items leaving are accurate!
We use USPS First Class or USPS Priority (whatever is more cost effective or
requested). Combined shipping is available and is automatically calculated by
eBay, however if any excess shipping is collected we will refund the difference
back to the buyer. We are always adding new items so check back often. Please
